Meal by Meal pays homage to my French grandparents, Marie and Yves Le Put, who prepared elaborate, delicate, almost heartbreakingly beautiful meals for my family which unfolded over hours and took days to prepare. In my cramped New York City apartment, surrounded by two young children and my husband Stephen, I have decided to honor this culinary heritage by throwing dinner parties, often––to open up our messy house and sometimes chaotic life to the people and families all around us. Like my grandparents, I want to explore the line between hospitality, community and the culinary arts. Unlike them, my dishes do not match, the floors are a bit dingy and sometimes the meals don't work. I am both tied to an age-old tradition and creating an entirely new and decidedly imperfect one. This blog documents my progress.
